Despacito is a hit song from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi together with Daddy Yankee was released in 2017. It went on to become the most streaming music of that time within six month. The combination of reggaeton and pop music not only brought attention back to the genre, but as well to Latin music generally. In 2015 there were only two mostly Spanish-language songs on Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. The Despacito song was at its peak popularity in 2017, however, 19 predominantly Spanish tracks made the top 100 as well, and by 2020 there were 41 such songs. In the wake of Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017, famous artists started to work with reggaeton artists. Drake and Bad Bunny worked together for the track MIA MIA (2018) and Madonna collaborated with Maluma to record Medellin, 2019 A few performers of reggaeton have criticized the shift to popular music by 2020. A newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the development and growth of reggaeton. The musician incorporated electronic dance music and others into his music.
